Get your pre-exisiting conditions covered!

NIB0915A-Adviser-Quartely-Campaign_Faceb
This is a limited time offer through nib

This is an offer that is not often available and means that you can get great quality health cover that also includes most pre-existing conditions after three years.

Unlike other health insurance that has cover for pre-existing conditions, this Ultimate Health Max policy also has great surgical benefits and a huge benefit of $300,000 for non-PHARMAC drugs.

This offer ends on 30 June 2024.

Why take up the offer?

Almost all health cover asks about your medical conditions and then excludes (removes from the policy) anything that has the potential to return and put you at a higher risk of claiming.

This offer allows you to have cover for many pre-existing conditions after three years.

As an example, below is a short list of covered pre-existing conditions that we come across often, that are covered under this offer:

  • Sinus conditions

  • Ear infections

  • Tonsilitis

  • Rotator cuff injuries

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Tennis elbow

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Endometriosis

  • Asthma

  • Gall stones

  • Kidney stones

  • Complex broken bones

  • Sprained and rolled ankles

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Bunyons

What is a pre-existing condition?

In its simplest form, a pre-existing condition is something that the client is aware of prior to the start date of the policy. It can be a diagnosed condition, or an injury or symptoms that have yet been diagnosed, whether or not your client has had investigations or consultations relating to the condition.

When is a pre-existing condition covered?

After three years of holding the policy, the pre-existing conditions are covered. This is outlined in the policy from the outset, so you are aware of what you are covered for.

Pre-existing conditions that are never covered

There are a list of conditions that are never covered. These are:

  1. Hip, knee and/or back - this relates to any future conditions connected to the previous condition or symptoms. (not all future conditions are excluded).

  2. Transplant surgery

  3. Reconstructive or reparative procedures or surgery - reparative procedures for previous surgeries. E.g. scar revision.

  4. Cancer - Returning or secondary cancers are not covered. However, new cancers with no causative link are covered.

  5. Cardiovascular conditions and cardiovascular risk factors. These include diabetes, high BMI, high cholesterol.

NAME: Sara

AGE: 19

PRE-EXISTING CONDITION: Endometriosis

BACKGROUND: Sara was diagnosed with endometriosis as a teenager, prior to taking out Ultimate Health Max (with pre-existing conditions). Under a normal policy the endometriosis would more than likely have been excluded from cover at the time of application.

Case study
Nib Sara

Four years after her parents took out an Ultimate Health Max (with pre-existing conditions) policy for the family, the endometriosis reoccurred. Now at university, Sara was experiencing pain and discomfort, particularly during menstruation. This impeded her studies as well as her social life. A surgical intervention was then recommended by her gynaecologist to correct this issue.

ULTIMATE HEALTH MAX CLAIM: Laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis

As Sara had passed the 3 year waiting period for pre-existing condition cover, she was able to proceed with her surgery.

If her parents had taken normal cover, this may have been permanently excluded from her coverage.

As a result of the surgery, her lifestyle was significantly improved as she no longer had to deal with the regular pain and discomfort.
